Year 3 outline

We have two Year 3 mainstream classes. We provide enrichment groups which cover topics such as public speaking, extension mathematics and writing, aboriginal culture and a social skills program. Gardening club and environmental education are provided to all students. Students also have the opportunity to partake in mindfulness lessons.

Throughout the year, our students have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities: dance group, choir, gymnastics, sporting gala days, Premier's reading challenge and sports competitions.

Year 3 classes follow all Key Learning Areas as set by New South Wales Education Standards Authority (NESA):

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science and Technology
  • History
  • Geography
  • Personal Development and Health
  • Physical Education
  • Creative and Performing Arts

In addition, each year we give students the opportunity to attend excursions which support the history, geography and Aboriginal studies curriculum.

Students participate in library, information communication and technology as well as the creative and performing arts.

To assist the students in English we use applications on iPads and laptops which include Spelling City, Bug Club and Typing Club. In mathematics the students use Matific which is an interactive website. These complement learning activities within the classroom.

Our students participate in stage fitness and class sport activities twice a week.
